Luke Scott Day Random Notes

Here are just some news and notes from an interesting day that of course was highlighted by Luke Scott’s appearance.

He arrived at the park around 3:00 o’clock and began his rehab routine in the clubhouse shortly there after.  He participated in normal stretching, throwing and batting practice.  It is worth noting that Luke took a couple extra rounds of batting practice, but nobody was counting.  He was extremely helpful to several of the players who asked for his input, especially Tyler Kolodny.

He did a couple interviews with WBOC- TV and for the radio broadcast. The interview will be archived tomorrow on “Around the Bases”.  He is very intelligent and really expressed a deep devotion to his faith.  He also said that Peanut Butter and Jelly is an option in the clubhouse at Camden Yards.  See, there isn’t a huge difference between the bigs and the minors.

His home run in the first inning was all you needed to see to understand the difference between a big leaguer and a minor leaguer.  An opposite field shot on a 3-2 pitch that he didn’t even get on  the sweet spot.  He also smoked the ball in the sixth inning for a base hit.

Luke is taking care of the spread tonight by the way, also very nice of him.  The players/coaches and staff are currently enjoying some Famous Dave’s.

Every time he stepped to the plate, he received a loud roar from the crowd.  A lot of Luke Scott fans were in attendance.

He is going to DH on Tuesday and again bat three times.

On a side note, the Shorebirds are now in second place, still a game back of Lakewood.  They are also riding a season long six game win streak.  It’s really amazing how quickly they recovered from the eight game losing streak.

Hickory is coming into town as I write.  They have some quality young arms.  Should be a good series.

Until next time, Go Shorebirds!
