Did You Know?
That…Kyle Hudson (31) and Xavier Avery (30) are the first duo to steal 30 or more bases in a single-season for the Shorebirds since 1999. During that season, Tim Raines stole 49 bases and Maikell Diaz stole 31 bags. Remember, Joe Mahoney was at 29 stolen bases before his promotion today.
In 1998, Luis Matos (42) and Darnell McDonald (35) also accomplished the feat. It also happened in 1997 by the way. Darnell Dent stole 60 bases, while Maleke Flower stole 35 bags. 1996 also saw two players steal 30 or more bases. Orlando Cabrera stole 51, while Wes Denning stole 31 bases.
So, the first four years of the franchise saw two guys steal 30 or more bases. But, the feat took a nine year hiatus until this season.
