Ready to Head Home

The Shorebirds will hit the road following tonights series finale against Greensboro.  We should get back to the park around 6:00 in the AM.

Here are some notes from my game notes today.

‘BIRDS DIG THE LONG BALL: The Shorebirds rank second in the South Atlantic League with seven home runs. The Shorebirds hit three last night. It took the 2009 Shorebirds team 28 games to record seven home runs. The Shorebirds have hit a home run in four of the seven games this season.

SEVEN STRAIGHT GAMES:Shorebirds leadoff man T.J. Baxter has scored at least one run in all seven games this season. He ranks second in the league in runs scored with nine.

STARTING STRONG: The Shorebirds starting staff has been stellar through seven games and 32.1 innings. They have allowed only 31 hits and nine earned runs. Three starters have already gone without allowing an earned run (Beal, 4/11; Butler, 4/12; Cowan, 4/14)

ROSA ROUNDS FIRST: Shortstop Garabez Rosa has five doubles through three games in the series against Greensboro. He is tied with Baxter for the team lead with six two-baggers on the season.

FORMER ‘BIRD MAHONEY UPDATE: Joe Mahoney has 11 RBIs for the Frederick Keys through six games in the Carolina League. Last night in Myrtle Beach, he went 2-3 with four RBIs. Ron Welty connected on two home runs against the Pelicans on 4/13.

Here is the rotation coming up at Perdue Stadium in case you are wondering who is going to be pitching when…

Friday (Home Opener): Jesse Beal
