Remember Aaron Ledesma?

The manager of the Charleston RiverDogs, the opponent over the next four nights is Aaron Ledesma.  He played in 43 games for the Baltimore Orioles in 1997.  He batted .352 (31-88) with two homers and 11 RBIs.

Ledesma played parts of five seasons in the major leagues with the Mets, Orioles, Tampa Bay and Colorado.

Starting Lineup – 4/29

Debut to Remember

Did you see what Trent Mummey did in his Frederick debut last night?  He went 4-for-6 with a double, triple and five RBIs against the Winston-Salem Dash.  Not bad for a first showing in the Carolina League!

Trent is a big time talent.

He hit .291 for the Shorebirds in 14 games before earning the promotion.  He had two triples, two home runs and 12 RBIs out of the lead off spot in just the 14 games.

Reminds me a little bit of the debut Nathan Moreau had in Frederick last year.  He threw a no-hitter!  Might be a stretch but you get the point.

7:05 first pitch tonight at Perdue Stadium.

Little League World Series Champ

In 2004, Jonathan Schoop won the Little League World Series with his Willemstad, Curacao team in Williamsport, PA.

I was pretty excited when I uncovered this one because the LLWS is an awesome event.  I was fortunate to go to Williamsport in 1998 to watch Toms River, New Jersey win the title.  It’s just an outstanding event.

Schoop’s team actually made it to Williamsport in both 2003 and 2004.  In 2003, they lost in the International Championship game.

I attached the links to check out the box scores and the games from 2003 and 2004.  He was one of their best players.  He actually earned the save in the title game in 2004.

Shorebirds Lineup – 4/16

Did some research and came up with this today.  Jacob Pettit became the first Shorebirds pitcher since 2004 to win his first two starts to open a season.  In 2004, Zachary Dixon won his first two starts.  A little surprising isn’t it?  Pretty impressive for Jacob Pettit.

Here is the Shorebirds lineup for today.  Weather has really cleared in the last two hours.  Poured early today here in Greensboro.
